“Fe: Capitulos y Versiculos”
24 x 30 inches, mixed media on canvas (2012)
commissioned art
This is another take on an artwork I have previously done based on subject of journeys:
I remember countless trips made by riding jeepneys within and outside Manila. With your ultimate destination known, the ride itself can be quite an experience since jeepneys themselves are such characters ā colorful artwork, boisterous honking, blaring music.
Ā I see parallels between the journeys we take in life and jeepney trips: some are marked by frequent stops, others take us through unexpected routes.Ā Ā There are trips packed with people and others where you are virtually alone. There is a mix of halting starts, bumpy roads, chaotic maneuverings ā an unhindered path mostly wishful thinking.Ā
This time, the āpersonal elementā is the inclusion of Biblical chapters and verses. These Scriptures were a source of inspiration ā an opportunity to go back to a reflective mode and work around the theme of faith.
If only our journeys were steered by the wisdom of these chapters and verses, reminding us of our starting and end points, and guiding us to our ultimate destination.

Hey Arlyn, I really enjoy viewing your art š
And I, yours. Thanks, Jenny!
